Middle School Curriculum

The Road to IGCSE

Our Middle Schoolers receive the same supportive, project-based approach taken in our preschool and elementary school programs. At the same time, they are ready for additional academic rigor, and our program recognizes and supports that milestone.

This transition from middle school to IGCSE is a crucial stage for a student. And to be a part of an ever-evolving world, they not only have to be academically sound, but also should possess the right set of skills, be self-aware, and also learn to take care of themselves and the world that they call home. Keeping these in mind, our middle school program journey is a transformative one for our students, eventually leading them to become well-rounded individuals.

Aster Middle School Program starts from Grades 5 to 7 and here is where they gear up for IGCSE. Our middle schoolers are taught to question the world, think critically, brush up their skills, and develop resilient characters, through an extensive curriculum.

A practical approach to learning is designed to help students prepare for IGCSE. Why IGCSE? Because:

  • Wide range of subject options
  • Provides a solid foundation for further study.
  • Gain globally recognized qualifications
  • Foster logical thinking required for the future workforce.
  • Focus on performance rather than scores
  • Student-centric approach
  • Inquiry-based learning
  • Accessible to almost all ability levels as the curriculum is differentiated in terms of difficulty level
  • ICE is awarded for passing at least 7 Cambridge IGCSE subjects, thus making the qualification a strong foundation for the student’s future career settings.

Experiential Learning:

Our curriculum allows students to gain concept clarity through experiential learning. We offer an array of modules and organize interactive learning sessions, and professional workshops for them to gain insight into the world.

Social Emotional Learning:

Pre-teens is considered to be a stage where kids learn to move on to adulthood and we believe this is when they need the most support. To help our students deal with societal pressures, regulate emotions, understand personalities, and also create for them a bully-free environment, and equip them with techniques to deal with stress, depression, and conflict, our onboard counselors have developed an in-depth SEL curriculum.
Strong characters are a marked ability of Aster students. With dedicated SEL classes, art therapy, and regular workshops, we instill resilience in our classrooms.

Physical Education:

As we believe in an integrated learning approach, each aspect of a student’s development is key. Our middle school students enjoy a variety of sports such as swimming, cricket, basketball, rowing, table tennis, gymnastics, taekwondo, and more! Our curriculum has exclusive everyday schedules for sports.

A physically fit generation can endure any challenge!

This is an opportunity that is only provided at Aster. Traditionally, O levels take 4 years to complete, and this can be a very daunting experience for students. We have come up with a solution: Aster Pathways. In which, deserving students can complete their O level in 2 years!

In grade 7, we shall be taking an Aptitude Test, upon evaluation and based on the results, if a student is capable, they shall be eligible for either one of the Pathways, which are

Comprises of Foundation year 1, O1 and O2

Completion of O Level in 2 years

Comprises of Foundation Year 1, Foundation Year 2, O1, O2.
